A letter from our executive director

Hello friends and welcome to spring,

For us, that means transitioning from Emergency Shelter programming and resetting to continue with our ‘regularly scheduled programming.’

As we wrap up our seventh year of running the Emergency Winter Warming Station, we have great news to report, but there are also concerning trends that we need to bring to light in our community.

Despite dangerous storms and a large COVID wave in Arkansas, we provided nightly food and shelter for 9+ weeks.

We provided shelter to a total of 125 guests this winter and… drumroll please… 40% went on to permanent housing and/or other transitional programs and rehabs. We are thrilled to see our clients working with our staff to make the best of their case management plans. These results are so inspiring.

Troubling Statistics

We also had a number of very young, very sick clients. This year we saw a dramatic increase in these areas.

  • 18-25 year old women and men with major mental illnesses who still desperately need mental health services.

  • Those needing shelter from domestic violence and sex trafficking.

  • 20% of our guests were discharged directly from local medical and/or mental health facilities to us at the Emergency Shelter.

Prayers for the future

As we learn and understand our local homeless population’s challenges, we pray God will continue to guide us in how we can provide year-round shelter that meets the specific needs of our community.

We are so grateful to each and every church, donor, volunteer, and prayer warrior. All of this is made possible by YOU. Words can not express how grateful we are for your support and encouragement!
