New! Outdoor Cooling Area

After several weeks of extreme heat advisory, we are so grateful to have our outdoor cooling area up and running.

It is merciful this time of year to offer the most basic provisions for our neighbors living out in the elements. The cooling area offers shade, a cool misty breeze, cold drinking water, and a place to charge a phone. We are so excited to show you how it turned out.

Over the course of a couple of weeks, Graydon, our Homeless Hub Manager, constructed the awning, ran the wiring for an electrical outlet, mounted a water misting system and fans, assembled a deck with benches, and so much more to make this vision a reality. A couple of our Homeless Hub regulars even jumped in to help with the project, bringing sweat, muscle, and expertise to give back to the Ministry Center.

It may not seem like much, but this small sanctuary speaks love and value to our friends at the Homeless Hub. It has been a much used and much appreciated addition to the daily services we can offer someone living without shelter.
